Scotland's Highland Council has issued an open tender for a shipyard to carry out the detailed design and build of one small electric ro-pax ferry for the Corran Ferry service between Corran and Ardgour. The yard can build wherever it chooses. Bids will be scored 65% on quality and 35% on price, and variant bids are allowed. The council will place its own project manager and supervision team at the shipyard to oversee construction against class and Maritime and Coastguard Agency rules. Requests to vary the draft NEWBUILDCON contract close on 16 October 2026, queries on 3 November, and tenders are due on 10 November 2026. Community benefits such as apprenticeships and local jobs are part of the requirements.
